Day 1 | Airport to Anuradhapura

Anuradhapura is one of the oldest and most sacred cities in Sri Lanka, renowned for its ancient stupas, monasteries, and royal ruins that tell stories of a glorious past. Surrounded by serene lakes and peaceful countryside, it offers an inspiring start to your cultural journey through the island.

Day 2 | Anuradh pura to polonnaruwa Habarana

Start your day with a journey through the ancient marvels of Anuradhapura, the cradle of Sinhalese Buddhist civilization and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore its remarkable sites, including:

  • Srimahabodhiya – The sacred Bodhi Tree, grown from the original tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment.

  • Ruwanweli Maha Seya – A grand stupa considered one of the most significant Buddhist monuments in Sri Lanka.

  • Abhayagiriya Stupa – Once a thriving monastery, now a magnificent ruin with historical significance.

  • Thuparama Stupa – One of the oldest stupas preserving ancient relics.

  • Mirisawetiya Temple – A historic stupa reconstructed with care over the centuries.

  • Awkanna Buddha Statue – A stunning, intricately carved standing Buddha statue.

  • Isurumuniya Viharaya – Famous for its beautiful rock carvings and serene atmosphere.

  • Kalu Diya Pokuna – A natural black water pond with historical and cultural importance.

  • Twin Baths (Kuttam Pokuna) – Ancient bathing pools showcasing advanced hydraulic engineering.

Afterward, visit Mihintale, the birthplace of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, and explore the ancient monastery complex.

Return to Anuradh pura for an overnight stay, resting after a day immersed in history, culture, and spirituality.

Day 3 | Anuradhapura to Polonnaruwa / Habarana

  • Depart from Anuradhapura and head towards the ancient city of Polonnaruwa.

  • Explore the remarkable archaeological sites including Potgul Viharaya, Vatadage, Royal Palace of King Parakramabahu, Rankoth Vehera, Kumara Pokuna (Pond), Nissanka Latha Mandapa, Pabalu Vehera, Menik Vehera, Lankatilaka Temple, and Somawathiya Rajamaha Viharaya.

  • Enjoy a visit to Minneriya National Park, famous for its large elephant herds and diverse wildlife.

  • Return to Habarana for an overnight stay.

Day 4 | Habarana to Dambulla

  • Depart from Habarana to visit the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its ancient frescoes, royal gardens, and stunning panoramic views.

  • Explore the Sigiriya Archaeological Museum, where you can learn about the fascinating history and archaeology of this ancient city.

  • Enjoy a wildlife adventure at Minneriya National Park, renowned for its large herds of elephants, diverse bird species, and scenic landscapes.

Overnight stay in Dambulla.

Day 5 | Dambulla to Kandy

  • Depart from Dambulla and head towards Kandy.

  • Explore Nalanda Gedige, an ancient stone temple showcasing a unique blend of Hindu and Buddhist architectural influences.

Day 6 | Departure

  • Discover the ancient Gadaladeniya temple, known for its South Indian–influenced architecture and serene setting.

  • Stop at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage to witness rescued elephants being cared for, and even see them enjoying their river bath.

  • Proceed to the airport for your departure flight.
