Day 4 | Sigiriya, Kandy

sigiriya is linked to the King Ravana of the Ramayana epic through local folklore, which suggests the rock fortress was once Ravana’s palace, or the mythical Alakamandava. Although archaeological evidence points to King Kashyapa’s 5th-century construction, this lore connects the site’s advanced architecture and strategic height to Ravana’s sophisticated domain, possibly even as a place to hold the captive Sita.
