Day 1 | Airport To Anuradhapura

  • Visit Sri Munneswaram Kovil, one of the revered Pancha Ishwarams dedicated to Lord Shiva, known for its spiritual significance and centuries-old traditions.

Sri Munneswaram Kovil has a strong connection to the epic Ramayana, where it is said that King Rama prayed to Lord Shiva here for atonement after slaying the Brahmin king Ravana. Legends describe the temple as a sacred site where the curse of killing a Brahmin (Brahmahatya Dosha) was lifted from Rama. The connection is further highlighted by the belief that Rama was instructed to install four Shivalingas at four locations, with Munneswaram being the first

  • Stop at Manavari Hindu Temple in Chilaw, another sacred temple with deep religious importance, where Lord Rama is believed to have worshipped Lord Shiva.

Anuradhapura, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the most sacred cities in Sri Lanka and the cradle of Sinhalese Buddhist civilization. Day 2 | Anuradhapura / Mannar to Jaffna

  • Depart from Anuradhapura towards Mannar.

  • Visit the Mannar Dutch Fort, built during the colonial era and overlooking the Indian Ocean.

  • Explore Thiruketheeshwaram Shivan Kovil, one of the most revered Hindu temples in Mannar, dedicated to Lord Shiva.

  • Witness the legendary Ram Setu (Adam’s Bridge), a chain of natural limestone shoals connecting Sri Lanka to India, steeped in history and mythology.

Day 3 | Jaffna

● Visit the iconic Nallur Kandaswamy Devasthanam, one of the most important Hindu temples in Sri Lanka, admired for its golden gopuram and spiritual significance.
● Explore Maruthanarmadam Aanjaneyar Kovil, a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, featuring one of the tallest Hanuman statues in Asia.
● Continue to the ancient Naguleswaram Temple, believed to be one of the five historic Ishwarams dedicated to Lord Shiva.
● Walk through the historic Jaffna Fort, originally built by the Portuguese and later expanded by the Dutch, offering panoramic views and colonial heritage.

Day 4 | Jafna to Trincomalee

● Depart from Jaffna and head towards Trincomalee, a stunning coastal city on the eastern shores of Sri Lanka.
● Visit the sacred Thirukoneswaram Kovil, an ancient Hindu temple perched dramatically on Swami Rock, offering panoramic views of the Indian Ocean.

Thirukoneswaram Temple has legends connecting it to King Ravana from the epic Ramayana, where he is said to have worshipped Lord Shiva there with his mother and brought a holy Shivalinga from Mount Kailash. Another story attributes the deep cleft in the nearby Swami Rock to Ravana’s attempt to move the entire temple for his sick mother, leaving it unfinished when she died. 

● Explore the Kanniya Hot Water Springs, a series of natural wells believed to have therapeutic properties.
● Relax at the pristine Marble Beach, known for its crystal-clear waters and soft white sand.

Day 5 | Trincomalee to Habarana

  • Visit the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Sri Lanka’s most treasured landmarks. Climb the Lion Rock to witness its ancient frescoes, royal gardens, and panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes.

  • Experience an unforgettable Hot Air Balloon Ride over the Cultural Triangle, floating peacefully above lush jungles, lakes, and villages as the sun rises.

Day 6 | Habarana to Kandy

  • Visit the world-renowned Sigiriya Rock Fortress (UNESCO World Heritage), often referred to as the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” and marvel at its stunning frescoes, landscaped gardens, and fascinating history.

  • Continue to the Dambulla Cave Temple, the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka, filled with centuries-old Buddhist statues and intricate murals.

  • Stop at a Spice & Herbal Garden to learn about Sri Lanka’s rich tradition of natural healing and Ayurveda, where you can see and experience various spices and herbs in their natural form.

  • Explore Nalanda Gedige, an ancient stone temple believed to be one of the oldest surviving Hindu-Buddhist monuments in the country, notable for its unique fusion of South Indian and Sri Lankan architecture.

Day 7 | Kandy to Nuwaraeliya

Day 8 | Nuwaraeliya to Colombo

  • Visit Sita Amman Kovil (Sita Eliya) – a sacred temple believed to be the site where Sita was held during the Ramayana legend.
  • Stroll around the picturesque Lake Gregory, a popular spot for boating and leisure walks amidst the cool climate of Nuwara Eliya.
  • Explore the beautiful Hakgala Botanical Garden, home to a diverse collection of flora, colorful blooms, and serene landscapes.
  • Discover the prehistoric Belilena Cave, an archaeological site where evidence of early human settlements in Sri Lanka has been found.

Day 9 | Departure

  • Travel to Colombo from your accommodation.
  • Visit Panchamuga Anjaneyar Temple, a unique spiritual site in the heart of Colombo.
  • Enjoy a Colombo city sightseeing tour, exploring key landmarks, bustling streets, and local culture.
  • Visit Kelaniya Buddhist Temple (Vibhishana Temple), one of Sri Lanka’s most revered Buddhist sites with a rich history of devotion and art.

The Kelaniya temple holds significance in the Ramayana tradition because it is believed to be the coronation site of King Vibhishana after the defeat of his brother, Ravana. Local legends and folklore suggest Vibhishana, who supported Rama, was crowned king of Lanka in Kelaniya, and he subsequently ruled from there. The temple has a shrine dedicated to Vibhishana, and some murals depict his coronation, linking the site directly to the Ramayana epic.
